Our 2nd grade class has a lot of background knowledge on animals, their habitats, and their adaptations. 
Our curiosities led us to researching about albino animals. We had trouble finding BOOKS about albinos, so we decided to go public and write our own book about how albino animals around the world survive and adapt to a life without any color.  After a lot of hard work, research, and collaboration, we mailed our completed nonfiction book, "White Tails and Other White Tales" to Florida and entered it in the Scholastic Kids Are Authors book contest.   Here is a look at our inquiry, writing, and illustration process:
