Hello WAWM families,

Please join us for the Youth Art Month celebration this Sunday, March 1st from 1:00-4:00 at the Administration Building located at 1205 South 70th street.  This year there will be musical performances, our student art show and many interactive activities for families to participate in such as creating a community wall hanging made from CD’s, a snow fence weaving, necklace making, a drum circle and a beautiful flower pot raffle.  All money raised from the raffle will go to the District’s Education Foundation to support the Arts in our schools.

Come join us for a fun filled family event this Sunday at 1:00!  We look forward to seeing you!

  • FRIDAY February 27, 2015.
    • DOJO Incentive Day.  We will be having a Mardi Gras celebration in the gym – making masks and having a short parade. Students need 80% or higher positive DOJO points to earn this incentive.
    • RED Day to promote Heart Health as a part of Jump Rope for Heart.  Students and staff are encouraged to wear red.
    • PTA Snowball Dance – 6-8pm.  Please considering coming out to join the fun. Red Heart

Hello Longfellow and Rec Center Families,

  • A reminder about safe parking/pickup!  On Grant Street, please DO NOT block the fire hydrant on the North side of Grant St, park in the residential alley, call students across traffic, and/or do U-Turns in the middle of the street.  We try hard for safe entry to and exit from the building, and parents must obey these guidelines for all things to run smoothly.  If you have any specific questions, please contact Jessica Moe.
  • Snowy weather is here!  Children must have snowpants AND boots to play on the snowhill outside.  Children who are not dressed appropriately will not be permitted in these areas during recess.
  • Please remember to send tennis shoes to school with your child, especially on physical education days.  Children need shoes in order to participate in phy ed class safely.
  • February 17 is a Voting Day at Longfellow and the Rec Center.  This means modified entry/exit procedures for the buildings and a bag lunch only option instead of hot lunch.
  • News from the PTA:
