  • Longfellow Elementary has MET EXPECTATIONS on the most recent State Report Card.  We are proud of our staff, students and families.  A letter explaining more is attached.
  • Longfellow Elementary has been named a DPI School of Recognition AGAIN!  We will celebrate in Madison on October 13th.  This is a huge accomplishment for our school community.  CONGRATS!
  • Thanks to Mrs. Anderson and Macys for our books to take home through the RIF book donation! WOW!   (see picture)
  • Please work to complete the process of signing up for your student's Apple ID account.  If you have not completed this process, a teal form was sent home in your child's folder.  I have also attached copies of the form to this message.  Please complete the form and return to school ASAP.  This process allows your child to access Apps on his/her Ipad.  Contact Michelle Hennings (ex. 4330), our Tech Integrator, with questions.
  • PFSS (Parenting for School Success) program continues on Tuesday nights from 5:30-7:00pm.  Sept. 23 and Oct. 7 will be held at IRVING ELEMENTARY.  Sept. 30 will be held at Longfellow - our topic will be Reading.  If you have not turned in a RSVP form, please contact Vicki Cota at cotav@wawm.k12.wi.us.  Dinner and childcare are provided.
  • Wednesday is Stand up to Bullying Day.  We will be doing special activities with students this week in support of our anti-bullying efforts at Longfellow.  (see picture of our pledge)
  • Communicate with your child's teacher about getting parent email access to Class DOJO.  This program tracks student progress towards meeting our PBIS expectations of Respect Self, Respect Others, Respect Environment.  It is meant to inform parents about having a specific conversation with their student - asking your student things like, "Great job respecting self in Art class - how did you do that?" or "What happened this afternoon when you did not respect the environment?  What will you do differently tomorrow?"  are perfect ways to increase home-school communication.
  • The Longfellow Elementary PASS program will begin on Tuesday, September 30th.  Students invited to the program will receive a purple permission slip this week.  Please sign and return the form if you want your child to participate.

Have a wonderful week!

W.O.W Words

W.O.W Words - Words Of the Week

Our school-wide words this week were
DESCRIBE and DETAILS.
During art class with Mrs. Ragner, students applied their knowledge of these words DESCRIBING flowers by Georgia O'Keeffe and adding DETAILS to their own flower designs.

Our school-wide words last week were
COMPARE and CONTRAST.
We read and discussed different versions of the fairy tale, "Three Little Pigs". We used a Venn Diagram to COMPARE and CONTRAST the text.
